Lord Mayor's Welcome for International Students
Event Information
About this event
Welcome to Sydney
The City of Sydney hosts an official welcome for international students studying at Sydney institutions every year. It recognises and celebrates international students’ contributions to Sydney’s vibrancy, liveability and cultural diversity. The welcome marks the start of their journey and making of life-long connections.
This year, the Lord Mayor’s Welcome for International Students will be held virtually on Hopin on Tuesday 16 March 2021.
Join your fellow international students in Sydney Australia and those studying online from around the world. This will be an afternoon (Sydney time) of connection with our indigenous culture, and the opportunity to link in with organisations that will support you during your studies and through experiences outside the classroom.
You'll enjoy:
- An official welcome by the Lord Mayor
- Welcome to Country and Aboriginal performance
- Virtual reality tour of Warrane (Sydney Cove)
- Inspirational speech from past international student and current City employee
- Stalls and wellbeing and welfare exhibits
- An opportunity to connect with other international students.
The event is free, but registration is essential!
