What will living look like as a person aged over 65 in 2050?If you&#x27;re passionate about challenging ‘sixtyfive-ism’ and changing the way we currently design communities and buildings for life in later years, join us for Longevity by Design.Longevity by Design is a charrette, or design challenge, that will be held in Brisbane over one day on 6 February 2020. It&#x27;s a joint initiative of <a href="https://habs.uq.edu.au/about/major-partnerships/healthy-ageing-initiative" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The University of Queensland &#x27;s Healthy Ageing Initiative</a> and <a href="http://www.dmaengineers.com.au" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">DMA Engineers</a>, with support from our event partners <a href="https://www.paynters.com.au/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Paynters</a> and <a href="https://www.redland.qld.gov.au/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Redland City Council</a>.Facilitated by <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/rosemarykennedy/?originalSubdomain=au" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dr Rosemary Kennedy</a>, the charrette will bring together thought leaders and professionals across a broad range of industries involved in designing for later life, building on the foundations of the University of Queensland’s Healthy Ageing Initiative.Registered teams will take on a design challenge set in the Redlands. Teams will have a choice of three sites to work on, where they will be challenged to create visionary, innovative and highly connected design to meet the needs of future seniors in 2050. It is a collaboration to generate ideas and innovative thinking.Why join the Longevity by Design charrette?The charrette is a collaborative event giving teams the chance to think innovatively about their vision for the future of over-65 living.It’s an opportunity to build your personal brand as a designer, innovator or creative thinker and make new professional connections across a range of industries.You’ll hear from leading academics, interact with and be challenged by some incredible industry experts and mentors, and have your ideas heard by some of the leaders in Australian senior living.Who can attend?We’re looking for a diverse mix of skills, genders, ages, backgrounds and experience within each team. Teams will consist of between 4-8 people, with a maximum of 80 people participating on the day. We invite you to register as an individual, or as a team. If registering as an individual, we will place you into a team.If you are registering as a team, we strongly encourage you to bring together a diverse team with a range of different skills, perspectives and viewpoints to encourage creativity and innovation. Why not invite some clients or stakeholders to join your own organisation&#x27;s team?We&#x27;re expecting participation from architects, transport and urban planners, and engineers, to interior designers, social scientists, health and community practitioners, educators, psychologists, visual artists, builders, marketers, built environment professionals and representatives from Government. These will include:- Professor <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/laurie-buys-836609b/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Laurie Buys</a>, leader of the Healthy Ageing Initiative. - <a href="https://everaldcompton.com/about/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Everald Compton</a>, Chairman of Longevity Alliance Australia, and Founder of National Seniors Australia.- Professor <a href="https://researchers.uq.edu.au/researcher/80" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">John Mangan</a>, Professor of Economics, University of Queensland.- Dr <a href="https://www.mrcagney.com/team/bridget-burdett/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Bridget Burdett</a>, Principal Researcher, MRCagney on transport, mobility and access.The Pitches, Awards and JudgesThe charrette will culminate in pitches by each team at a breakfast event on 27 February 2020 at Union College, UQ for up to 150 attendees. This forum will be an open event where teams can invite colleagues and clients, and it will be attended by range of aged care and retirement industry representatives connected to the HAI as well as Redland City Council.
