Local Colour

Join us for light drinks and refreshments in the Waverley Library Galleries with the Randwick Art Society.

Local Colour is a celebration of work by the Randwick Art Society members. The exhibition includes landscapes, photography, figure work, still life, sculptures, and crafts, all reflecting the local area and character of the Eastern Suburbs in diverse and colourful ways.

The Randwick Art Society Inc. was founded in 2009 to promote Art and local awareness of Art in the community. It is a not-for-profit association of artists, photographers, and craftspeople who come together regularly to practice their art, encourage one another, and exhibit their work.

When Randwick Art Society Inc. was founded in 2009 by Patricia Reid, it became the first incorporated Art Society in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. As a not-for-profit association of artists, photographers and craftspeople, the Art Society provides a range of activities for members, including opportunities to practice art and craft in the relaxed, friendly company of other members on Monday and Friday mornings. The Mission Statement promises “To work for recognition and appreciation of Art in the local community and promote all mediums of Art among like-minded members of the community through sharing, companionship, teaching, and exhibiting”. Members can attend art demonstrations and workshops and have opportunities to exhibit their art and craft work in exhibitions at various venues throughout the year, including the beautiful Waverley Library Galleries.

With over a 100 members, the works on display are a testament to the rich diversity and boundless creativity of our local artists. The exhibition, Local Colour, is a kaleidoscope of vibrant and unique artworks that reflect the local area and character of the Eastern Suburbs.
