Event description

Description

It is the searing agony you feel when you find inaccuracies in science fiction movies. It is checking your pedometer hourly, not because you have to, but because you want to. Being a scientist is not just a profession, it is a way of life.

In Situ Science returns to the Camelot Lounge in 2018 to celebrate the Sydney Science Festival with a live podcast recording.

A panel of Sydney scientists will take us on a comedic journey through the passions and pitfalls of a life in science. Dr James O'Hanlon from In Situ Science and the University of New England will introduce a panel of Sydney's best scientists and science communicators, to discuss the way that science and life collides. Our panel featuring Dieter Hochuli (USyd), Sophie Calabretto (MQ), Naomi Koh Belic (UTS) and Mike Kasumovic (UNSW) will discuss important topics including the imminent uprising of introverts, whether the glass ceiling is really just a walk-through aquarium, and why you shouldn’t refer to your first born as a ‘pilot study’ in public.

The event will be recorded live and released as an audio and video podcast via In Situ Science.

Food and drinks can be purchased at the Camelot Lounge on the night.
