Overview

Step back in time and experience the nostalgia of 1948 with Don Loffler as he dives into the captivating story of the Holden car.

“Life in 1948 and the dramatic arrival of the Holden car” presented by Don Loffler.

The first half of this 45-minute photographic presentation includes disastrous events in South Australia in 1948; popular commodities that were readily available and vital necessities that were strictly rationed. It was a time of austerity that our grandchildren can scarcely imagine.

The second half covers briefly the designing of the Holden in Detroit, USA, and production of the first Holdens in Australia; then a full description of the elaborate announcement functions at General Motors-Holden’s headquarters in Fishermen’s Bend, Victoria, for the launch of the Holden in November 1948.
