Get curious as award winning indigenous Australian writer, Tony Birch and academic writer, Bec Kavanagh discuss gender and roles through out literature.

Light refreshments will be avalible 30 minutes before workshop begins.

Authors Bio:

Tony Birch is the author of four novels: Women & Children, which won the 2024 The Age Fiction Book of the Year; The White Girl, winner of the 2020 NSW Premier’s Award for Indigenous Writing, and shortlisted for the 2020 Miles Franklin Literary Award; Ghost River, winner of the 2016 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Indigenous Writing; and Blood, which was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Literary Award in 2012.

Bec Kavanagh is a Melbourne-based writer and academic whose work examines the representation of women’s bodies in literature.

Bec has appeared as a host and panelist at Melbourne, Sydney, and Bendigo Writers’ Festivals and on Radio National’s Books and Arts Daily. She has judged several literary prizes, including the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award, the Book of the Year Award (SPN), the Davitt Awards, and local writing competitions.
