About this workshop
The LGBTQ Ally Leadership Workshop provides an overview of terminology and facts concerning LGBTQ students and employees. The participants learn the difference and diversity of sex characteristics, gender identity and expression as well as sexual orientation. The workshop outlines the importance of creating an inclusive culture within the workplace by sharing some of the experiences of LGBTQ people. Various actions are proposed that individuals can take to be active and visible allies. This workshop encourages participants to delve deeper into subjects that will assist them in achieving inclusive practice goals and bolster their ability to lead discussion and action at the University of Canberra.
Important information about the training
This workshop is for people interested in becoming LGBTIQ ally leaders. As the workshop is held online, it is conducted in two 1.5-hour parts. It is essential that you attend both sessions.
About the UC Ally Network
An Ally Network has been established at UC. It is a visible network of people who are allies of staff and students who identify as being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ), and their friends and supporters. Any UC staff member or student can be an ally, whether or not they identify as LGBTIQA+. To join the Ally Network, you will need to complete LGBTQ Ally Leadership Workshop.
Training Facilitator
Robin Ladwig (they/them), Diversity Advisor, works for UC People & Diversity and is endorsed LGBTQ Trainer by Pride in Diversity. Robin is part of the UC Ally Network and a proud LGBTIQA+ community member with a long history of educating people about LGBTIQA+ matters.
Training Audience
This workshop is for people interested in becoming LGBTIQ ally leaders. You do not need to attend the LGBTQ Awareness Training as prerequisite.
