Overview

The Safe Schools team are pleased to offer a free full day intensive on LGBTIQA+ inclusion in schools!

This training will include advice, information and interactive workshops with the aim of increasing your knowledge and confidence in supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex, queer and questioning, and asexual (LGBTIQA+) students. You will leave with a better understanding of the experiences of LGBTIQA+ students as well as practical strategies to create safe and inclusive environments for all students, including LGBTIQA+ students, at your school.

This day will also give you the opportunity to connect with other school and regional staff.

Some of the topics that will be covered include:

  • Sex, gender and sexuality
  • Responding to discriminatory language
  • Responding to disclosures
  • Schools' legal obligations
  • Supporting a student affirming their gender
  • Intersectionality
  • Strategies to implement in your school

Attendance is free with morning tea and lunch provided.
CRT reimbursements are available to government schools.

Let us know with your registration if there’s anything we can do to make this event more accessible for you.

Please arrive 15 minutes early as we will start right on 9:00am. If you are unable to make it on the day please let us know as early as possible, so we're able to reallocate your ticket.
