Navigating relationships and sex can be challenging for young people with disability. They can misinterpret social cues and be more vulnerable to pressure and the impacts of pornography.
ACD and Amaze are hosting a FREE presentation, Let’s Talk: relationships, sex, and pornography. It aims to help families of children aged 12+ to understand and support their children to navigate respectful, consenting relationships.
Topics include:
- Autism, young people, and technology
- Autism, young people, puberty, and sexuality
- Pornography and young people
Presenters:
- Dr. Wenn Lawson is an autism expert, researcher, and author. He has autistic children and grandchildren. In 2021 Wenn won the Lesley Hall, disability leadership lifetime achievement award. Wenn is passionate about all things LGBTQIA+ and autism
- Maree Crabbe is the Director of the Australian Violence Prevention initiative. She is also an educator, author, and filmmaker who is passionate about gender-based violence prevention, and about supporting parents, schools, communities, and government to address the influence of pornography on young people
