Let's Eat Cake! (...a cake swap event!)

Creswick Town HallCreswick, VIC
Saturday, Jan 31, 2026 from 10 am to 12 pm AEDT
Overview

Bring the most beautiful cake you can make, and leave with cake box full of slices of other people's most beautiful cake!

Inspired by the spirit of a Cake Picnic, this community cake swap invites locals to come together to share homemade treats, meet new people, and enjoy a relaxed, joyful morning. It’s a simple way to connect, swap cake, and celebrate the good things in life.

This is an event is for people excited to bring their absolute best cake to swap:

  • Every person attending must bring a whole, uncut cake that is minimum of 20cm round, and a minimum of 7.5cm high. We're not talking your everyday supermarket cake, we're talking about the most beautiful cake you can make that you're excited to show off your baking skill! Undecorated cakes need not attend!!

  • Every person participating must arrive between 10am and 10:30 with their cake on a plate or cake board, along with a cake server and the details of your cake (the cake name and the list of allergens). All cakes must arrive by 10:30am to participate.

  • At 10:30am, each participant will get a plate to take their first sample of cake to try, ideally to sit down with the other participants to enjoy a cuppa and cake!

  • At 11am, each participant will be given a cake box to walk along the table of cakes (we're aiming for 20 cakes minimum - see below for the cakes that are registered to attend!). You can take as much cake as you brought, logically that means a whole cake per person to take home - a little bit of this one, little bit of that one, little bit of this one, etc, etc! YUM!

  • You're welcome to bring a friend, however they MUST bring a cake too - this will strictly be "no cake, no entry".

  • See the FAQ below for more information.

Why are you arranging a cake swap?

This event has been structured around creating a shared common interest to bring community members together. It helps build trust, encourages conversation, and contributes towards creating a sense of belonging in the community, creates community connections, and gives our Emergency Management team (who love cake!) an opportunity to be available to answers community members questions about the risks and hazards that have the potential to impact our communities, or any other emergency related question.

Cake's that have been registered (we'll periodically update this with registrations):

  • TBA
