This Valentine’s Day, we’re trying something a little different — a cat adoption experiment inspired by the idea of letting love lead the way.

No profiles. No photos. No previews.
Just a chance to meet a mystery cat and see if the connection is mutual.

This event is purrfect for people who are open-hearted, flexible, and excited to welcome a feline friend into their family — without focusing on age, colour, breed or gender. Instead, we’re removing the usual adoption biases and giving the cats the opportunity to choose their people.

Once you book a ticket, you’ll receive a short questionnaire about your household, lifestyle, and existing pets. This helps us ensure any cat you meet is suitable for your home and avoids heartbreak where a cat may not be compatible with other cats, dogs, or young children.

All cats attending are friendly and social, though some may be a little shy at first due to the new environment. Cats of all ages will be attending — from kittens to adults — with a mix of short hair, fluffy coats, black cats, tabbies and every colour in between.

How the “Choosing” Works

Small family groups will be invited into the space at a time and seated quietly.
A cat will then be released to explore freely.

No calling, bribing, treats, toys, or pspspsps — this is a true blind date.

If a cat naturally approaches and lingers with a person or family for around 3–5 seconds, gentle interaction is then allowed.
If the cat chooses to stay, congratulations — you’ve been chosen 💘

A Note on Expectations

If you don’t get chosen the first time, don’t worry — this isn’t a one-and-done moment.
Throughout the event, we’ll be cycling through different cats, giving families multiple opportunities to be chosen by different cats.

That said, just like dating, not every love story begins on the first meeting.
There may be around 20 cats attending and more families than cats, so not everyone will go home with a cat on the day — and that’s okay.

This event is truly about the cats choosing their people. If you don’t leave with a cat, it doesn’t mean love isn’t out there for you — it may just be waiting for the right moment, the right cat, or the right second date.

Important Notes

• Adoption fee on the day is a flat $400, regardless of age, colour or coat type
• All cats and kittens are sterilised and microchipped prior to the event
• This event is not suitable for those seeking a specific gender, coat type, or “look”
• Adoptions are cat-led and not guaranteed — just like dating, not every connection is instant

Tickets are per household or adopter, not per person.

• If you’re attending as a family or household (even a family of five), only one ticket is required

If you’re lucky enough to be chosen and decide to proceed with adoption, your ticket fee will be deducted from the adoption fee on the day 🐾💕
