LED Craft Workshop for Kids & Skill Seeker: Young Maker Edition Book Launch
Join us for fun LED crafts and the launch of Skill Seeker: Young Maker Edition!
Celebrate the launch of a new book, Skill Seeker: Young Maker Edition with author Steph Piper, in this hands-on making workshop.
Kids can make either a light up Easter egg basket or power glove to take home using GlowStitch crafting LEDs, and take home a signed copy of Skill Seeker: Young Maker Edition. Get $60 of value to take home with a $50 ticket price, including a signed copy of the book, valued at $30 and LED crafting kit valued at $30.
Hear about the book and how kids aged 8-12 years old can use it to level up their Maker skills, from electronics and coding to crafting skills. Track their skills using video game inspired skill trees, and show off all their skill levels in a progress dashboard. Complete activities and colour in infographics as they progress. By completing the workshop activity, students will learn basic electronics and can start to colour in the tiles in the book to show their progress.
If you'd just like to hear more about the book and not complete the workshop activity, come along at 4:15 for a short presentation on the book and author meet and greet at no cost. LED Craft ticket holders are also welcome to remain after the workshop finishes without a seperate book launch ticket.
This workshop is held by author and creative technologist Steph Piper, the Senior Makerspace Coordinator at UniSQ and is the author behind the Skill Seeker series. For more information, visit www.makerqueen.com.au.
