About this event

Leaving the city for the beach and bush: Counter-urban trends to regional Australia

There has been ongoing discussion in the news of people fleeing from the cities to set up lives in regional Australia. This discussion has been refreshed due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic as trends emerge of counter-urban migration from major cities.

In this workshop, we will bring together expertise from academia in this area of research from across Australia, and from a range of disciplines, to present findings from research conducted over the past decade or so on counter-urban trends in Australia. In doing so, we hope to build up further evidence for what has happened, what is happening now and maybe understand what might happen in the future for regional communities and their new migrants.
