About this event

Join us in an evening of conversation to celebrate and acknowledge Barry McNeill’s significant contribution to the architectural profession and community, but specifically his role as a memorable educator and mentor. His generosity of spirit and commitment to education shaped and informed the careers of many architects. Barry was responsible for founding the first Environmental Design course in Australia and was interested in experimenting with the norms of education and inviting discourse and student interaction. He was passionate about the individual spirit and encouraged students to understand their point of difference. Barry was prolific and capable of wearing many hats at once; he had an innate sense of social responsibility and in his lifetime was a great champion for the profession, siting on many boards and committees.

Peers and friends will share their memories and highlight his many talents as a teacher, architect, planner and importantly acknowledge and celebrate Barry, the person. We would particularly like to thank the family for their involvement in the event.
