Learn Why It's #OK2SAYNO
A morning of support, bush advocacy and connection for carers.
We invite carers and those who support them to step away from daily responsibilities and join us for a relaxed morning of connection, conversation and support. This is a chance to enjoy a free breakfast, meet other carers in your community, and hear from an inspiring local advocate.
Join us for a morning with Shanna Whan AM, as she touches on her own trauma-related alcohol addiction, which almost cost her life, through to today - living a (joyfully) alcohol-free life. Shanna is now relentlessly pioneering a better way forward for others choosing less or no booze - and equipping countless bush communities on how very easy it is to be part of a healthier narrative, whether we’re drinkers or non-drinkers.
What to expect:
- Keynote presentation with Shanna Whan AM
- Discover Carer Gateway supports and services
- Engaging Q&A session
- Free breakfast and connection with other carers
Who should attend?
Carers, family members, friends, and anyone supporting a loved one.
Hosted by Wellways Carer Gateway in support of carers across our community.
Sober in the Country:
If you're new to the work of bush charity Sober in the Country, it's essential to understand they don't preach a message of prohibition, and never have. Their work lies in showing bush communities that when we are all part of being socially inclusive - and catering carefully and thoughtfully (beyond just booze or cheap sugary drinks) for all our mates, lives are changed and saved.
So whether you're a drinker, a non-drinker, or somewhere in the middle, there's something for absolutely everybody to take away from their decade of boots-on-the-ground advocacy and learnings.
