Event Information
Description
Learn to code (over 10 x 8 week challenge blocks) mobile apps, searchable dynamic websites, or coding for a corporate environment for free. Each challenge block is made up of 8 Saturdays in a row, running from 10am till 4pm at the State Library of Queensland, Southbank. We also provide optional-to-attend tutoring every Wed 3 - 7pm at the Library. The program is completely free, however you will need to bring along a laptop (Windows, Mac or Linux based all ok). You need to be very comfortable using a computer but don't need any prior coding/programming experience - you just need to be able to find, change and save files confidently as well as be confident in using the internet.
To register go to www.itetc.com.au.
The 2 challenge blocks starting on Sat, 24th June 2017 are:
- Learn to Code - covering essential coding concepts (we’ll be using Java as the language)
- Learn to code for the Web – covering web based technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap etc.)
Our sessions run in the Digital Futures Lab (known as the SLQ Gallery on their maps - Level 2 above reception) at the State Library Qld, Southbank on a Saturday between 10 and 4pm in a public technology display space. There are people walking around and it is a casual learning environment. Feel free to drop in before June and see what you are getting yourself in for!
