About this event

  • 1 hour

This online information session is about Carer Gateway, which has been developed by the Australian Government by carers for carers to make it easier for family and friend carers to obtain information, advice and support in their caring role.

1 in 9 people in Australia are unpaid carers for someone with a disability or chronic illness, and Carer Gateway is where their wellbeing comes first.

The program, developed by the Australian Government, allows you to access a range of services and support in person, online or over the phone. When you call Carer Gateway, your local service provider will listen to your individual caring situation to understand your needs and tailor support so that it's right for you. They may arrange help around the home, sessions with a councillor, equipment to help you study or respite care.

On the Carer Gateway website you can also connect with other carers and access useful information, courses and resources.

Join our session to find out more about the program and hear about how Amanda and Sue’s lived experience brought their professional journeys to Carer Gateway, enriching the service with their personal insights and compassion for other carers.

Participants will gain knowledge about:

1. General overview of Carer Gateway

2. Lived experience of the guest speakers

3. Services provided by the program

4. Support packages available through the program.
