Leading with Emotional Intelligence - Metro Program 2024

About this session

Emotional intelligence is a critical leadership skill. This capability evaluates how effective leaders perceive, understand, reason with, and manage their own feelings and others around them. This workshop will focus on the foundations of EI, whereby participants will learn how to lead more effectively by improving their ability to be more self-aware, socially aware, understand others and build stronger relationships and achieve better outcomes. The workshop also looks at different behavioural styles, how to adjust when working with others, and how Emotional Intelligence can create greater decision making skills.

Learning outcomes

Following the program participants will be able to:

• Reflect on the science and theory of EI
• Understand the concept of emotional intelligence and its importance in effective leadership
• Be able to recognise emotional intelligence in themselves and others
• Self-manage their own emotions, and identify ways for continuous self-improvement
• Effectively apply techniques to manage and control personal emotional reactions to situations at work
• Foster positive workplace relationships, improve awareness of others, their behaviours and characteristics, and be able to empathise, understand, and communicate with others
• Motivate and influence others to perform at their best by adjusting to different behavioural styles
• Foster a more positive environment which supports the development of sustainable workplace relationships
• Identify own behavioural style and those of others, and utilise strategies to improve communication thus becoming more; aware, authentic, expansive, resilient, and empowering.
