LDG Workshops
Two day professional learning
Tuesday 7 April 2026
Day 1: Identifying DLD, Universal Screening, and Progress Monitoring: Revolutionizing Language Assessment in Schools
Dr Douglas Petersen will showcase a collection of integrated assessment tools that includes diagnostic assessments for DLD and dyslexia, a kindergarten screener, and a suite of universal screening and progress monitoring measures for students in preschool to grade 8 (powered by AI, by the way). This includes the DYMOND, a norm-referenced dynamic assessment of language and decoding.
Wednesday 8 April 2026
Day 2: The Story Champs Approach: Curriculum, Multi-Tiered Intervention, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication
Story Champs is an evidence-based, structured literacy intervention for language designed to support children with language difficulties through the explicit teaching of complex language in the context of storytelling. Participants will learn about the core Story Champs program, as well as the new extensions including Story Champs-AAC, Story Champs Curriculum, and culturalised versions in preparation. The session will demonstrate how Story Champs can be implemented across tiers of support, from whole-class instruction to targeted intervention.
