About this event

  • 2 hours

Join Dr Alison Inglis AM, book contributors and guests at the Duldig Studio museum and sculpture garden for the public launch of the book, Slawa Horowitz-Duldig, Modernist Art and Design focused on this talented émigré artist, designer, teacher and wife of sculptor Karl Duldig.

Through a panel discussion, hear from award winning designers, Klarissa Pfisterer and Hamish Freeman (Pfisterer +Freeman) about the process of design and working with the art and archives of a house museum established by Slawa and her daughter, Eva de Jong-Duldig.

One of a number of émigré artists who contributed to the dissemination of modernist principles in Australia, Slawa is rightly celebrated for her design of the modern foldable umbrella, but her sculpture and painting on display at the Studio demonstrate a significant talent, cut short by the vagaries of war. This informative and beautifully designed book pays tribute to this modern woman and her achievements, both in Australia and Europe.

Tea and coffee included.
