Join us to discover how you can take your next step in language studies at the University of Sydney.

You put a lot of hard work into learning a language at high school – two, three or even more years. We understand this, and want to show you our pathways to broaden your language journey after high school.

Come and see how multilingualism opens your gateway to the world!

What is Languages at Sydney?

It's an annual event hosted by the University of Sydney's School of Languages and Cultures to give high school students a chance to see and experience language study at our University. Immerse in a language with us and other high school students from across Sydney and beyond.

Who is Languages at Sydney for?

  • Year 12 language students (IB, HSC, NSW School of Languages)
  • Year 11 and 12 language teachers and careers counsellors/advisers
  • Year 10, 11 and 12 students interested in learning languages from a beginner level
  • Year 10, 11 and 12 continuing language students and native or background speakers interested in a tertiary qualification in a language.

Why participate in Languages at Sydney?

High school students, language teachers and careers advisers or counsellors will gain insights into language teaching and learning at the University of Sydney.

You'll understand the clear path from high school to tertiary-level language studies, and discover the range of career opportunities that await language graduates.

Languages at Sydney promotes a community spirit that encourages multilingualism and cross-cultural competence. Meet University staff and students to establish relationships as we (net)work together.

How do I register?

  • Registrations are individual: every student and teacher must register independently with your own school email address (we will not accept personal email addresses such as Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.).
  • Follow the 'Register' link to begin your booking process.
  • Select the language webinar(s) you're interested in and the language level you're currently at and/or are interested in. If you're a student, you can also indicate another language you're interested in.
  • If your school is not listed on the order form, simply note which school you're from by checking 'Other'. All Australian schools are welcome to join our webinars.
