Presented by Working It Out with funding from Kingborough Council, this session covers:

• Unpacking gender, sex and sexuality identities – definitions and terminology

• Pronouns and misgendering

• Everyday experiences of stigma, discrimination and isolation and their impacts through language and action

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this session participants will be able to:

• Describe key terms that relate to sexual and gender diversity

• Describe the connection between language and inclusion

• Use language appropriately to support LGBTIQ+ inclusion

About our facilitators

Working It Out trainers are qualified educators with expertise in adult learning. They create safe, interactive and reflective spaces for participants using their experience and expertise from being part of, and working extensively with, the LGBTIQA+ community.

Parking information:


  • Maximum 2 hour stay at the library.
  • Parking in Channel Court shopping complex is maximum 3 hours.

To ensure a successful event, please:


  • Don't attend if you are unwell
  • Follow hygiene practices eg. hand sanitising
  • Let us know if you have any support needs or if a support person will be coming with you.

  • 2 permit mobility parking spaces next to the library - 2 hour parking limits apply.
  • Level access, automatic entrance doors, wide doorways and aisles for wheelchairs
  • Accessible toilet with a change table for children
  • Parenting room in Channel Court shopping centre next to the library
