Lane Cove Cinema Club - Perfect Days (2025) - Japan

Overview

Join us at the Pottery Lane Performance Space for this critically acclaimed, slice-of-life film!

We're kicking off our 2026 season with a Japanese language film to tie into Lane Cove library's launch of their Japanese language collection.

Directed by Wim Wenders, co-written by Takuma Takasaki and starring Kōji Yakusho; this lovely and meditative film was released and screened to universal acclaim, with one critic calling it "as much a manifesto as a movie...advocating not just a new way of looking, but of new way of living."

In this film, Hirayama (Kōji Yakusho) feels content with his life as a toilet cleaner in Tokyo. Outside his structured routine, he cherishes music on cassette tapes, reads books and takes photos. Through unexpected encounters, he reflects on finding beauty in the world.

Runtime is 2h 5 minutes.

Screening starts at 7pm
