Overview

Karabena Consulting seeks feedback from parents and carers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children 0–8 on Koorie Kids Shine.

Research Project: Review of the Department of Education’s Koorie Kids Shine

The Victorian Department of Education’s Koorie Kids Shine (KKS) program helps promote kinder for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families in Victoria. It aims to make sure kindergartens are:

  • Safe and respectful of culture.
  • Valuing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
  • Helping children enrol and keep attending.

The aim of this project is to look at how KKS can do this better in the future. It will also check what has worked so far and suggest new ways forward.

What will happen

  • A yarn led by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander facilitator
  • This will be a time to share your experience of what helps families enrol in and access kinder, how Koorie Kids Shine has impacted your experience, and any other feedback you have about Koorie Kids Shine
  • The forum will run for approximately 60 to 90 minutes
  • Children are welcome

Catering

Refreshments and a light meal will be provided.

Reimbursement

To thank you for your time and insights, and to cover travel expenses, you will be given a $40 gift card.
