Kira Bain - An Introduction to Kaurna Language
An Introduction to Kaurna language with Kira Bain, a proud Ngarrindjeri Woman who was born and raised on Kaurna land.
Join us for a special Community Voices Series workshop featuring Kira Bain, offering an introduction to Kaurna language and culture.
In this two-hour session, Kira will share her personal story and connection to language and Country, creating a meaningful space for learning and reflection.
Together, we’ll build a foundation for cultural understanding through language, exploring greetings, basic terms and pronunciation, and (time permitting) the Kaurna seasons and their connection to Country—particularly relevant to our environmentally focused community.
We’ll also discuss the respectful use of Kaurna language in everyday life and provide guidance on how to continue learning beyond the workshop.
We look forward to welcoming Kira and learning from her knowledge, experience, and passion for keeping language strong.
