About this event

Join us at the Library as we transform our spaces into an interactive and colourful playground for kids and families.

From the forecourt to the Quad, the Library will be bursting with creative activities and mind-expanding experiences for kids and their grownups.

Discover the program below and book for a morning or afternoon session. All activities are free and run all day unless otherwise stated.

Free activities

Pauline Gandel Children's Quarter

Head down the rabbit hole in the Pauline Gandel Children’s Quarter and craft your own piece of Alice in wonderland with Paperazzi! Or, head upstairs to the Castle for a fridge magnet poetry and storytelling workshop limited only by your imagination.

Create Quarter

Meet us in the Create Quarter to join the circus! Circus Nexus (previously known as Westside Circus) will lead a fun and dynamic experience, where you can explore a range of circus skills and try out different equipment under the guidance of their expert coaches.

Information Centre

Join us in the Information Centre for all-day craft activities and roving performers. Celebrate Victoria’s history and record some of your own story in a Flashback! Booklet, and be inspired while you while you work as The Garden Party transports you to the Secret garden with their unique moving landscapes.

Paid activities

Creative storytelling workshop with Alisa Wild (11.30am and 2pm)

Love the Squishy Taylor series? Then come and join author Ailsa Wild in the Conversation Quarter for an action-packed, one-hour story-building adventure where she’ll reveal some of the secrets behind Squishy Taylor’s flare for dare! We’ll also celebrate her latest kids’ book Midnight feast for the naughtiest pixie, and children can explore their own stories with her creative guidance.

Ailsa will be signing copies of her book at the Library Readings store after each session. This experience is perfect for ages 6-12, and will include AUSLAN interpretation.

Tickets are $20 per child (free entry for parents/carers) and will include access to the Kids’ Takeover morning or afternoon session depending on which time you attend.
