Kids Art Journaling: A Spanish Language Experience
Join us for a 4-week journey into the world of Art Journaling, taught through the beautiful Spanish language!
About the program
Hello! I am Claudia, the founder of Lúdico "The Playful Palette". These art sessions are designed for children aged 5 to 12 and focus on self-expression and fun. Whether your child is a fluent Spanish speaker or just starting out, they will learn new vocabulary naturally as they create.
What we will explore
Each session, kids will fill their journals using a variety of topics and artistic styles:
- Dibujo (Drawing): Sketching characters, objects and nature.
- Pintura (Painting): Playing with colour and brushwork.
- Collage: Cutting and pasting to create textured masterpieces.
- Técnicas Mixtas (Mixed Media): Combining different materials and techniques for unique results.
What to expect
- Technique & Themes: I focus on a new technique each week, from drawing to the textures of collage and mixed media, covering familiar topics like family, animals, food, nature, fantasy, etc.
- Natural Language Immersion: Instructions, vocabulary, and artistic terms are given in Spanish within a supportive bilingual environment (Spanish/English). I use visual aids, gestures, and repetition so that everyone can follow along, regardless of their Spanish level.
- A Relaxed Atmosphere: Located at the Carlton Neighbourhood Learning Centre, this is a space where kids can chat, create, and get a little messy.
- Small Group Focus: Limited spots ensure every child gets personalized guidance with both their art projects and their language practice.
What to Bring
- Art Journal: Each child should bring their own A5 Visual Art Diary (minimum 120 gsm, mixed media paper).
- Protection: Please bring an apron or an old shirt for painting.
- Hydration: Don't forget a water bottle!
- Note: All other art supplies are provided. A minimum of 6 participants is required for the program to proceed.
