What's the buzz?
Australia is home to more than 2000 species of native bees, the majority of which are solitary or semi-social bees including the Teddy Bear Bee, Blue Banded Bee and the Cuckoo Bee.
Around 12 species of native bee live in communal hives with a Queen and produce native bee honey. These are known as Stingless Native Bees and can be kept in hive boxes in your garden or farm. Tetragonula carbonaria are the local species of stingless native bees.
