The Kangaroo Island Regional Plan (KIRP) is now open for consultation.

This community information session will give community the opportunity to meet with members of the Regional Planning Program, discuss and provide an overview of the Kangaroo Island Regional Plan and the newly launched Regional Planning Portal and ask any questions that you might have.

View the KIRP at regional.plan.sa.gov.au - Australia’s first 100% digitised, dynamic, and interactive Regional Planning Portal.

The KIRP will shape Kangaroo Island across the next 30 years and determine where houses and jobs go and how people will live.

Kangaroo Island holds a unique place in South Australia's landscape, renowned for its natural beauty, diverse ecosystems, and vibrant communities.

Projections show Kangaroo Island’s population could grow by nearly 2,000 permanent residents over the next 30 years.

The KIRP starts the conversation about future change, where new housing and employment growth should be located and what types of housing diversity may be needed.

This is your opportunity to provide input into the KIRP and help determine the needs and wants of current and future communities and where and how you feel the island should grow.

Consultation is open until 5:00 pm on 6 June 2024.
