MORE INFORMATION
This event is part of the Kangaroo Flat and Golden Square Flood Resilience project, being delivered from August 2019 to March 2020.
Previous investigations have predicted that a large number of properties within Kangaroo Flat and Golden Square may be affected by flooding that is specifically as a result of large rainfall events causing overflow of local creeks and waterways.
Extensive floods have occurred in the past, including creek and localised flooding during the major storm events of 2010 and 2011.
The risk of flooding in this area could worsen in the future due to a potential increase in extreme weather events as a result of climate change.
The City of Greater Bendigo is taking a proactive approach: initiating an in-depth technical study and community discussion from August 2019 to March 2020. The key objective is to inform future infrastructure investments and reduce potential impacts of flooding within Kangaroo Flat and Golden Square.
