Kamishibai and Kites: Welcome Home Migratory Shore Birds

About this Event

Calling all children aged 4 years and above! Join us for a Kamishibai story about Tom the shorebird and kite-making art ‘n’ craft. Follow Tom the shorebird as he flies from Siberia to Japan and from Japan to Brisbane’s Boondall Wetlands.

Learn about the amazing lives of migratory shorebirds and their epic journeys. Discover the significance of Brisbane's Boondall Wetlands and its 'sister wetlands' at Yatsu Higata Tidelands in Narashino, Japan are crucial to the thousands of migratory shorebirds that travel between Asia and Moreton Bay each year.

Age: 4 years and over.

Cost: Free.

Requirements: All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear a wide-brimmed hat, secure, fully enclosed walking shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen and insect repellent. Please bring drinking water and a snack or picnic lunch as there are no food outlets on site. Note: Any walks or outside activities are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.
