Here in Kalgoorlie we are very fortunate to have many things, and one of those things is one of the best Toastmasters Clubs in Western Australia (seriously, we are). We have helped people overcome fear of public speaking and improve themselves since 2008. The success stories are many, people join the club, and the differences in self confidence and belief are soon noticeable.
Many people join to build themselves into something new and better. Often those members are promoted within their current job or find themselves finding a better one. People sometimes join to be better able to put their voice forward in social situations, and find themselves able to confidently do so after a while. There are many reasons to join Toastmasters, and the truth is that if you're willing to put the effort in, it almost always works.
The idea of Toastmasters is overcoming fear of public speaking or improving by having a go in a supportive environment. We use the Toastmasters Pathways education program to give you help in the direction you want to go. The 11 Pathways are curtailed to help with the thing you may want to improve on, such as networking, leadership, humour, or presentations. There's something there for everybody and there's other members always at hand to help you along too.
If you don't believe the hype, that's fair enough, I wouldn't either, but come along to our meetings and see for yourself.
