Overview

Discover the world of invertebrates at this FREE Junior Ranger (ages 8–12) INVERTEBRATE INSIGHTS event at Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre.

On Saturday 21 February, Parks Connect Junior Rangers will enjoy a guided glimpse into the incredible diversity of invertebrates at Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre, Enoggera. Using a scavenger hunt checklist, they'll search for signs of invertebrate life in the park, including examples of camouflage, invertebrate life cycles, and symbiotic relationships.

Learn how these species are studied, and explore the equipment used to measure invertebrate abundance. Look, listen and even smell for clues that reveal the presence of invertebrates, building curiosity about the tiny creatures that play a huge role in a healthy ecosystem.

This session is for children only. Parents must sign their children in and out, but can then enjoy an hour and a half to themselves (there is a cafe on site and walking trails) while their children learn and explore.

Parks Connect is proudly supported through funding from the Queensland Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation.
