Junior Explorers: Bug Detectives (6 years+)(with iNaturalist)
Meet some mini-beasts and find out fun and fascinating facts about these environmental heroes!
Meet some of the Environment Centre’s resident insects and other mini-beasts at a fun bug show, then test out your detective skills on a short walk investigating bugs and their habitats. What will we find living nearby? Learn how you can help these bugs using citizen science app, iNaturalist. Join this one-of-a-kind school holiday activity to discover fascinating facts about bugs and other mini-beasts and find out why these amazing animals are nature’s superheroes!
This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity please email us at DCBC@brisbane.qld.gov.au.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE YOU REGISTER
- Age: 6 years and over.
- All adults and children require a ticket. A ratio of 1 adult per 4 children is required. Maximum 5 tickets per booking.
- If you cannot attend this event, please cancel your booking online via Eventbrite.
- As our program is popular, your tickets will be forfeited if you do not arrive in time for the session to make way for available attendees.
- Recommended: Download the app "iNaturalist" before attending.
ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT
- Arrive 10 minutes before starting time to check in with staff at the Environment Centre.
- All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult.
- Wear sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed shoes, and bring sunscreen and insect repellent.
- Bring water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site.
Note: This event will go ahead in light rain. Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.
