Judge for Yourself - District Court
Hear the court case. Decide the sentence.
“Everything is not as clear cut as what the general public may think when they see sentences delivered.” – Judge for Yourself participant.
Enter our courtroom. Decide the sentence. Judge for Yourself.
Put yourself in the shoes of a District Court judge with the Queensland Sentencing Advisory Council at the Supreme Court Library Queensland.
We will be joined by Council deputy chair and Bell Criminal Lawyers director Kristy Bell and we will take you through a real case from the District Court of Queensland. We will explain what happened, the circumstances, and the factors the judge would need to consider when sentencing.
Then it’s your turn – you decide what sentence you would have handed down.
This session is open to everyone, regardless of your experience of the justice system.
