Judge for Yourself - Childrens Court
Hear the court case. Decide the sentence.
“I believe that I now have an improved appreciation of sentencing outcomes, including the complexity of decisions that need to be made.” Judge for Yourself participant.
Enter our courtroom. Decide the sentence. Judge for Yourself.
Put yourself in the shoes of a Childrens Court magistrate with the Queensland Sentencing Advisory Council at the Supreme Court Library Queensland.
We will be joined by Council member and criminal defence barrister Scott Lynch and we will take you through a real case from the Childrens Court. We will explain what happened, the circumstances, and the factors the judge would need to consider when sentencing.
Then it’s your turn – you decide what sentence you would have handed down.
This session is open to everyone, regardless of your experience of the justice system.
