About this event

This workshop offers a platform for authors aspiring to submit a paper to the JPBAFM special issue to present and get feedback on their research. The focus of the special issue is to publish high-quality papers that promote the understanding of the role and contributions of effective strategic planning, management control systems, budgeting and finance, stakeholder engagement, accounting and assurance practices in addressing sustainability issues and advancing SDGs in the public, non-governmental and hybrid sectors.

Kindly note, the workshop papers are not available for download as these are work-in-progres unpublished papers.

Plenary speakers:

Professor Sumit Lodhia, University of South Australia

Sumit Lodhia is a Professor of Accounting in UniSA Business where he leads research focused on sustainability accounting, reporting, and governance. He was presented with the annual Australasian - Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting (A-CSEAR) Hall of Fame Award for 2017. He has published over 80 articles in a range of prestigious refereed journals and authored a book and several research reports. He is the co-editor of Accounting Forum, an associate editor of Meditari Accountancy Research and a member of the Editorial Board of several international journals. Sumit has strong links to industry, enabling him to research the sustainability accounting practices of major Australian organisations, both public and private.

Dr Sarah Lauwo

Sarah is currently a Senior Lecturer in Accounting at the Sheffield University Management School, University of Sheffield. Her research interest includes accountability in public and private sector organisations, corruption, sustainability accounting, corporate governance, accountability and sustainable development goals, feminism and corporate social responsibility. Sarah’s work includes a number of studies in empirical grounded research in private and public sector organisations, including mining sector, social housing, health care services and local authorities. She has published in various academic journals, including Accounting Auditing and Accountability Journal, Critical Perspectives on Accounting Journal, Accounting Forum, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Financial Crime, Journal of Money Laundering, and Accountancy Business and the Public Interest Journal. Sarah has a track record of externally funded research and successful PhD supervision. She serves as an Associate Editor for the Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal. She is also a reviewer on top Accounting and Management journals, including Accounting, Auditing and Accountability, Critical Perspectives in Accounting, British Accounting Review, Abacus, Accounting Forum, and Journal of Business Ethics.
