Jeff Apter presents 'Lee Gordon presents...' | In Conversation
Join music biographer Jeff Apter for an in-conversation with Bernie Howitt. They'll discuss entertainment industry trailblazer, Lee Gordon.
When Lee Gordon arrived in Sydney in September 1953, the only place Australians could see international stars like Frank Sinatra and Bob Hope was on the big screen. But over the next 10 years, Gordon would promote tours for almost 500 international acts, including Sinatra (a close friend), Sammy Davis Jr., Liberace, Bill Haley, Buddy Holly and shock comic Lenny Bruce.
Gordon was instrumental in bringing showbiz legends to Australian shores. From opening Australia's first drive-in restaurant, introducing local audiences to the Roller Derby and running discotheques, Gordon's influence changed the country's culture forever!
Please be aware of the following:
• Bookings are essential (each person needs a ticket)
• Books will be available to purchase on the night
