About this event

Knife Making Course with Tobi Bockholt.

This 2-day knife-making course focuses on the Legendary Japanese style chef’s knife, its fine finish and supreme functionality.

Tobi Bockholt is one of Australia’s leading blade smiths on culinary knives and will take us through the necessary steps of making one of these blades.

The workshop will provide Damascus steel and timber for the project and each participant will walk away with one of these beautiful knives.

This course takes us to that next level of finishing, profile and geometry of custom tools for the kitchen.

The workshop will be held in the front shed at Mattila Studio over the weekend of the 8th & 9th of June 2024, from 9 am to 5 pm each day.

It takes place at the picturesque waterfront slip yards of Battery Point in Hobart, Tasmania.

This knife making course allows only five students per session. This ensures quality in teaching and safe working practice.

Lunches will be included. Please contact us to advise of any dietary requirements.

Responsibility to teach and share with others in my community and abroad is a part of my arts and trade practice. This fits in with the ethos of self-empowerment through skills. Mattila Studio is a safe space where creativity thrives and ideas are realized.
