Israel on Fault Lines: Israeli Society Since October 2023

Israel on Fault Lines: Israeli Society Since October 2023

Online event
Tuesday, Apr 14 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm AEST
Overview

Exploring Israel’s internal divisions and societal strain since October 7 through a systemic-psychoanalytic lens.

Since the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023 and the ensuing war in Gaza, Israeli society has been living under immense psychological, political and moral strain. These tensions have reverberated beyond Israel’s borders, shaping discourse and relationships within communities worldwide — including here in Australia.

In this timely online event, Gilad Ovadia will explore the fault lines that have intensified within Israeli society since 7 October. Drawing on a systemic-psychoanalytic lens, he will reflect on the emotional, relational and institutional stresses that surface in times of national trauma and prolonged conflict. The session will invite thoughtful dialogue and critical reflection on leadership, responsibility and the possibilities for restoring peace.

This event is hosted by OFEK (The Israeli Centre for Public Affairs), which has called on the Israeli government to reconsider its responsibilities and objectives in pursuit of sustainable peace.
