Event description

Description

Join us for a delicious two-course lunch, networking, a tour of Simply Tomatoes & Aussie Wool Quilts, and conversation with three inspiring rural entrepreneurs to celebrate International Rural Women's Day (OK it is one day early but we do like a leisurely Sunday drive). Proceeds of the day will be donated to a local charity by popular vote.

THE PLAN: 11.00am onwards a leisurely arrival, coffee, networking and browse the shop. 12 noon main course. 12.30pm panel discussion. 1.00pm dessert over Q&A. 1.30pm optional tour.

Marilyn Lanyon, Simply Tomatoes & Aussie Wool Quilts- Boort Over almost thirty years of growing tomatoes, Marilyn developed a standout recipe that led to the creation of Simply Tomatoes in 2002. It has been an exciting journey that put Boort on the global map as it led into the export market. The purchase of yet another business - Aussie Wool Quilts Boort - also created 18 body shaped therapeutic from their wheat and wool, and resulted in tourism awards. At the forefront of agribusiness in the Loddon Shire, we look forward to learning from Marilyn's wisdom.

Elise Brown, Fair Dinkum Dog Coats At 19 years of age Elise purchased this small wholesale manufacturing business with the help of a family loan in her home town of Castlemaine. Within a year she'd paid back the loan, and within three years she transformed it from wholesale into a totally online business that won her an award and gave her the flexibility to raise a family. How easy is it to scale a business up and down to suit your family commitments? We look forward to hearing Elise's thoughts.

Toni Barton, The Original Lamb Bacon Co Toni breeds Australian White Lamb, considered the Wagyu of lamb meat, at Nulla Vale. Through a collaboration with experts in the field, she created lamb bacon which is now sold through restaurants, retail outlets and Farmers Markets at premium prices. What happens when you challenge traditional views of a staple food item? Can't wait to hear how Toni dealt with a significant road block.

Be inspired by three rural women who have carved their own pathway in the business world.
