Invitation: Adult ADHD Workshop for General Practitioners

Goodlife Community CentreBuderim, QLD
Saturday, Jan 17, 2026 from 9 am to 11:30 am AEST
Overview

Presented by Dr Philip Bird, Consultant Psychiatrist

We are pleased to invite you to an educational workshop delivered by Dr Philip Bird, a local psychiatrist with over 25 years of specialised experience in the assessment and management of Adult ADHD. This session is designed to support general practitioners in developing confidence and competence in diagnosing and treating ADHD in adults, a rapidly evolving area of clinical practice.

Why Attend?
With recent changes to Queensland regulations effective from 1 December 2025, General Practitioners are now authorised to diagnose and initiate treatment for adult ADHD. This presents an exciting opportunity to expand your scope of practice and improve outcomes for your patients. However, ADHD in adults can be complex, often presenting with comorbidities and requiring nuanced management strategies. Optimising treatment, avoiding common pitfalls, and understanding regulatory requirements are essential for safe and effective practice.

Workshop Highlights:

  • Understanding Adult ADHD: Key features, diagnostic criteria, and clinical presentations
  • Comorbidities: Recognising and managing anxiety, depression, substance use, and other common co-occurring conditions
  • Medication Management: Practical guidance on stimulant and non-stimulant options, dosing strategies, and monitoring
  • Regulatory Update: Navigating new prescribing authorities and compliance requirements
  • Case Studies: Interactive discussion of real-world scenarios and clinical challenges
  • Q&A Session: Opportunity to discuss your questions and experiences with an expert
  • Resources: Access to evidence-based guidelines, patient information materials, and referral pathways
