Wound Management in Primary Care

With chronic wounds affecting nearly half a million Australians at one stage in their lives, it is important our health care professionals are kept up-to-date with the latest treatment and advice.

For that reason, Brisbane South PHN would like to invite practice nurses to attend an introductory session on managing wounds in primary care.

Participants will gain knowledge on the basic principles of wound management and best practice care.

AUDIENCE: Primary care health professionals

SPEAKERS: Cheryl Frank, Director of Nursing, Wound Busters

• assessment of the patient and optimising wellbeing
• wound assessment, diagnosis and referral
• choosing your dressing

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

• understand the importance of patient assessment when treatment wounds
• know the symptoms of common wound types
• implement evidence-based practice for managing wounds
