Introduction to Web Development and Node.js
Event Information
Description
Who are Muses?
We run free JavaScript and Node.js workshops for women, non-binary and trans folk around Australia.
If you've ever wanted to learn how to code, now's your chance. Come along to our introductory workshop for complete beginners, where you will learn the basics of the web and start coding in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in the presence of a supportive group of mentors. It’s a great chance to learn and to grow your network with awesome ladies in the Brisbane tech space. Who knows you might get an introduction to your dream job.
Already know to to code? Don't worry we got you covered too. We also have an introductory workshop to Node.js and you'll learn to transform a website into a web application. It's gonna be great.
Oh did we mention the free food - there'll be lots of it! We'll also have some recruiters roaming around to give you tips and advice :)
Exciting stuff - we rebranded! You might remember us as NodeGirls (one of the largest coding workshops for women in Brisbane), we recently rebranded to Muses Code JS. It's more inclusive and accessible with our global expansion and we're still running the same great events with awesome new content.
We have two tracks on the day, so come along and do whichever one you’re interested in (or both if you’re hustling!)
- HTML and CSS: Learn the basics of the web as you build and style a website from scratch.
- Node.js: Take a basic website and transform it into a web application using JavaScript and Node.js.
This is a fully catered event, so all you need to bring is:
-
A laptop
-
A charger
-
A desire to learn :)
-
A reusable coffee cup and/or bottle - during our events, we use reusable or recyclable items as much as possible, let's try to be mindful of our environment. We like to try to create a positive impact for people around us <3
Our coding workshop is a great place to learn the basics of programming (HTML and CSS) for those who have never tried programming before, or those who have a basic knowledge of JavaScript and would like to learn something new (Node.js framework) for more advanced attendees.
