Introduction to JavaScript - For Complete Beginners

Muses run JavaScript and Node.js workshops for women, non-binary and trans folk around Australia.We believe that everyone should try programming at least once in their life. Therefore we created a community where, in a friendly atmosphere with a great vibe you can try programming for the first time or, if you already code, learn something new about JavaScript and/or Node.js.

Have you always wanted to learn how to code? Come along to our JavaScript Introductory workshop for complete beginners, where you will learn the basics of coding JavaScript in the presence of a supportive group of mentors.
This is a fully catered event, all you need is your own laptop, charger, and enthusiasm!

Our coding bootcamp is a great place to learn basics of programming (JavaScript programming language) for those who have never tried programming before, or reinforce some JavaScript foundations for more advanced attendees.
This event is also good for those who want to grow their network and meet new people with similar interests.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Due to blue card regulations, this event is 18+ only.
 
Can men attend? 
Yes, but you must bring along a female friend who is interested in learning about the topic.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
The venue is a short walk away from King George Square bus station and Central train station. There is <A HREF="http://www.visitbrisbane.com.au/parking/deals/cbd/weekend-parking?sc_lang=en-au" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="paid parking" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">paid parking</A> in the city available on Saturdays.
 
What do I need to bring to the event?
You will need a laptop with access to Wifi. We at NodeGirls (and the earth :D) will appreciate it very much if you could BYO coffee cup as well <3
 
Do I need to prepare for the event?
We have tried our best to make the workshop beginner friendly, so there isn't any assumed prior knowledge.
The only thing we request is that you check the email you use for registration for set up information in the week prior to the event.

Yes. Or you can bring it a digital copy.

What does the workshop schedule look like?
We aim to follow the following schedule as closely as practical:

<LI>Workshop introductions and housekeeping until 10:30</LI>
<LI>Morning tea until 10:45</LI>
<LI>Work on your code until 12:30</LI>
<LI>Lunch until 1:00</LI>
<LI>Work on your code until 2:45</LI>
<LI>Afternoon tea until 3:00</LI>
<LI>Workshop runs until 4:00</LI>
</UL>
We will hold several lightning talk sessions during the day about different technical and non-technical topics.
