International Women's Day: The Purple Patch

International Women's Day: The Purple Patch

3 Lyons StRye, VIC
Saturday, Apr 18 from 10 am to 12 pm AEST
Overview

Drop in and explore The Purple Patch, a hidden community garden in Rye, and meet the local volunteers who look after this little secret!

Location: Community Grow and Play Garden, 3 Lyons Street, Rye VIC

Date: Saturday 18th April 2026

Time: 10am-12pm

Open to all

The Purple Patch is a hidden community garden tucked into the back corner of the park — a creative, ever-evolving space supported by local enterprise and lovingly (if loosely) cared for by community volunteers. It’s a little wild, a bit unexpected, and proudly imperfect… just like nature.

Drop in to explore the garden, meet some of the volunteers (many of whom are artists), and enjoy a relaxed afternoon of creativity and connection. There’ll be puppets and busking with Barbara, seeds to sow, and a painting station where you can add your own signature stone to Bindy, our ever-growing rock snake.

Say hello to Robyn the scarecrow, Jamie the overgrown gnome, and the rest of the crew — and be part of a community that’s still growing.

All ages welcome!
