ABOUT THE LEARN TO SKATE CLASSES

We believe in having a go, so students are encouraged to go at their own pace under the guidance of our coaches. By combining the physical and creative elements of skateboarding, Totem allows students to try and practice a wide, unique range of skills to build self-esteem in a fun, safe, and supported environment.

The lessons cater for Newcomers and beginners to "transitioning to intermediate" Skaters.

ABOUT THE SELF-EXPRESSION JAM SESSION

This is not a class, but a chance for participants to have extra support to focus on their own progression. Giving them the experience of a comp setting with loads of prize giveaways to be won. The session will help to boost their confidence and become familiar with and keep the momentum going to move to the next level of competing in bigger jams and comps. All while highlighting and appreciating the time, energy, and effort they have put into getting good at skating.

WHAT CLASS SHOULD I REGISTER FOR?

We have created this simple guide to help you decide which class will be best suited for you/your child.

Our beginner class is for skill level 0 to 1, and the intermediate class and self-expression jam session are for skill level 2 to 3.

Level 0 - The Newcomer

New to skateboarding and has no experience. Might have had a go, but feels uncomfortable on a board.

Level 1 - Beginner

Has skated a few times, with limited experience, and needs to practice to build more confidence and a basic skill set(foot & body positions).

Level 2 - Transition into Intermediate

Knows the foundational skills(tick tac, calving, etc) and wants to start exploring tricks such as ollies, drop-ins, etc.

Level 3 - Intermediate

Is confident on a skateboard, knows the foundational skills(tick tac, calving, etc), a few tricks(ollies, drop-ins, etc), and wants to advance to the next level(flip tricks, grinds, etc)
