Overview

Join EKCCI and Kununurra Neighbourhood House in the ultimate partnership to bring you a range of events crafted with everyone in mind

The East Kimberley Chamber and Kununurra Neighbourhood House have partnered to bring you a day of inspirational events.

Start the day by joining us for a high-tea breakfast at Hotel Kununurra to celebrate. Expect fresh ideas, practical strategies, and plenty of laughter as we dive into what it takes to build workplaces where women thrive. From amazing trailblazing speakers to open conversations with peers, you’ll walk away energised, connected, and equipped with innovative solutions you can put into practice.

We have two amazing speakers:

Rose Stephens

Rose Stephens is the CEO of Wirrum Pty Ltd and has spent much of her career working in leadership roles across both international humanitarian settings and regional Australia. At International Women’s Day, Rose will reflect on her experiences working with diverse communities and the insights these have given her into leadership, resilience, and the strength of women in all contexts.

Theme

This year's theme, 'Balance the scales,' is a movement for justice. When women support women, we shift the scales for generations

Balance the Scales is a promise that every woman and girl – regardless of background or identity – should be safe, heard, and free to shape her own future. Millions across Australia and the world are still denied that fair go. Discriminatory laws, harmful practices, and gender-based violence remain widespread, while structural barriers continue to block access to justice. These barriers are not inevitable. They are built – and they can be dismantled. Justice for First Nations women must also be community-led and grounded in respect for self-determination. First Nations women in Australia face unique and complex challenges in accessing justice. Overrepresentation in the criminal justice system, intergenerational trauma, and limited access to culturally safe legal support are just some of the barriers.

When women and girls stand equal, families are stronger, workplaces are fairer, communities thrive, and society becomes safer for everyone. Equality is not about advantage for some; it’s about dignity, safety, and fairness for all.

We know that achieving gender equity requires everyone at the table. That’s why we’ve set a goal for more male participation and encourage you to bring along colleagues who are ready to play an active role in building a more equal future.
