Event Details

In these workshops you will immerse yourself in the Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) model of psychotherapy to further teach the non-pathological multiplicity of mind.

US-based IFS therapist Bonnie Weiss LCSW and Melbourne-based IFS practitioner Simon d'Orsogna MA will offer two 3-day Deepening IFS Practice Workshops (Fri-Sun) workshops. These are suitable for professionals (therapists, psychologists, counsellors, certified coaches, expressive arts therapists and social workers) as well as those interested in self-development.

The 2018 Deepening Practice Workshops will be open to those who have completed an Introductory workshops offered previously, or are well-familiar with the Internal Family Systems model of psychotherapy through direct experience in workshop or supervision. Read down for dates for Introductory IFS workshops planned in Sydney and Melbourne in early 2018.

The focus is going deeper into the IFS skills and techniques, and enhancing personal capacity. The first workshop (6-8th April 2018) will build intermediate skills and cover the Inner Critic, Polarizations, and working with the Self of the Therapist.

  • Day 1 - Inner Critics (exploring 7 types of Protector, as well as Outer Critics)
  • Day 2 - Polarizations (antagonistic ego-states for defence and maintenance)
  • Day 3 - The Therapist's Resources (deepening the 8Cs and 5Ps of Self)

The second workshop (13-15th April 2018) assumes this foundation to give a deeper insight to IFS technique and approach working with complex clients and obsessive behaviours, family patterns and further resourcing the Therapist and Client. Details here.

The Introductory Workshop (2 days on consecutive Saturdays 10th & 17th March 2018 in Melbourne, or weekend of 25-26th February 2018 in Sydney) will teach the basics of the IFS approach from the ground up, and attending this or a previous Introductory workshop or IFS supervision is a pre-requisite for attending these Deepening events.

Bonnie Weiss M.A., LCSW, US-based psychotherapist, teacher, supervisor, and certified IFS therapist  These three day Deepening workshops are an opportunity for presentations, live demonstrations, experiential learning by doing, and provides a safe space to develop greater facility with the powerful attitudes and techniques that make IFS so effective. The sessions here provide deeper learning and an opportunity to work in small groups with maximum in-the-seat learning in a supportive atmosphere.

See the online flyer HERE for joining the e-list and more general information on IFS workshops and certification trainings in Australia.

Testimonials from attendees of Bonnie and Simon's 2016&17 IFS workshops in Australia:

A joy and a surprise to find such an experience of warmth and connection alongside intense learning and skills acquisition.

Extraordinary- met me exactly where I needed in terms of the edge of my knowledge, and then expanded my understanding.

A fantastic integration of theory, demonstrations and practice. Bonnie is a joy to watch as she grapples with practice dilemmas.

I have not ever attended such a training before that just sits comfortably with a respectfulness to work with clients and has also enabled me to consider my 'Self' and its importance professionally and personally.

The introductory workshop was great. Bonnie has such a warm presence and it was wonderful to learn from her and watch her in action

Well structured and a great synthesis of working with parts and establishing Self in a psychological and spiritual sense.

The workshop was both informative and consolidating of the IFS theory. The theory that provides a model for workig non judgementaly with all parts of the person while at the same time encouraging Self development and leadership.

Fantastic experience, particularly the live demos which added great authenticity to the process.

Very hands on learning in an extremely safe supportive, well-organised environment. There was an assumption of clinical skills and knowledge that allowed the group to go to applications in practice straight away with reading links to fill any gaps

Unpretentious openings each day, yet organised, good warm up exercises to get us in touch wiht your parts, good paired shares, excellent fishbowls/demos, good Q & A sessions where all parts were welcome. Well done!

The workshop was both informative and consolidating of the IFS theory. The theory that provides a model for workig non judgementaly with all parts of the person while at the same time encouraging Self development and leadership.

Enlightening! A gentle approach which will resonate with most clients.

I now have language, process and meaning for working with parts of self and big S self very excited"
