Come on a journey for the senses and experience the wonders of scientific discovery through tactile models and hands-on activities!

About this Event

This is a free public event accessible to audiences with visual or hearing impairments. Auslan interpreters will be available.

Suitable for school-aged children, senior citizens, and everyone in between.

Program includes:

  • Introductory talk on the basics of medical research
  • A series of interactive discovery sessions with activities and tactile displays to engage your senses of touch, sight, sound, and smell
  • Artwork and reflections by David Choi, a DeafBlind artist
  • Lunch for attendees

Registrations are essential.

Sign in begins at 9.30 am for a 10 am start in the ground floor foyer of the Wallace Wurth Building (map ref C27).

Accessibility: The welcome & talk will be held in a room equipped with a hearing loop system. Auslan interpreters will be available.

You are welcome to attend with a companion to assist you. Companions should complete their own registration form.

Public transport: The nearest bus stops for this venue are High Street near Gate 9, and Botany Street near Gate 11. UNSW is accessible by several bus routes, including the 891and 898 express buses from Central Station, and 357, 370, 400, 348, 656e buses.

Parking: There are a limited number of designated accessible parking bays near the entrance of Gate 9, and in front of the multilevel Botany Street Parking Station (map ref H25) near Gate 11. These spaces are subject to availability. For anyone with a Service NSW Mobility Permit, parking is free on campus at Visitor Disabled Bays, UNSW Permit Holder Bays, or 2P & 4P parking areas. Permit must be clearly displayed.

Metered parking is available for all other visitors on the top floor of the Botany Street Parking Station (map ref H25).
